Spoke with Captain/Owner Bill Wilkerson of the 3/4 day Malihini with an awesome day on the water today fishing the Coronado Island’s just across the USA/Baja, Mexico Border. The latest buzz on the bite continues to be a real nice Sand Bass bite. When the Yellowtail and other gamefish aren’t on the chew a nice big and tastey grumpy Sandbass and Calico Bass make for some great taco’s and both species can reach upward of 6 – 10 pounds! Here’s Sunday’s fish count:
ANGLERS: 38
FISH: BARRACUDA: 3 (these fish get big and put up a good fight!) Sandbass: 140 Calico Bass: 6 Conditions and season is here for the Yellow’s (Yellowtail) and possibly even a show of Bluefin Tuna (this time of year although they are not specifically targeted it’s not uncommon to see or catch. You really need to be prepared however and experienced fishing tuna should they make a rare show and have at least a 40lb setup ready to go. Leave the lake spinning rods home as these fish break lighter tackle. No offense I just like to suggest the best possible shot at catching a nice game fish should they show.
The Malihini is scheduled to depart daily at 6am from H&M Landing. Please come down or call and make that reservation or book online if you prefer by clicking the link at the top of this page and book your trip today or group charter. Grab a friend or family member and make that reservation and get out on the water for the day in awesome San Diego weather. There’s a nice mix of fish right now during San Diego’s peak season with the widest variety of fish being targeted and chance at catching.
The ticket prices for these trips are $95.00 for adults and 85.00 for juniors & seniors per person and they include your Mexican fishing permit. …hope to see you folks on the fishing grounds with us. ALWAYS ask about any last minute fuel surcharge when fuel is at or near $4.00/Gallon.
To make your reservation you can go to the online booking tab here on the boat web site or call the landing and book that way 619-222-1144
